College Basketball System

With the college basketball season only six weeks away, online sports betting sites are beginning to come out with lines on the winners of each conference. Here is a look at one of the oldest systems used in college basketball betting by many handicappers.

As the saying goes, if it isn’t broken don’t fix it. For the college basketball betting system, this phrase could not be truer. Since its inception some 20 years ago, the system has constantly proved to be a winner.

Essentially, all you want to do is take an unranked team that is the favorite against a ranked team, while the unranked team is at home. From 2006 to 2008, the system had a winning record of 50 – 28.

Simply, these unranked teams, aren’t necessarily bad teams, but rather sit on the outside waiting to make their move into the top 25. As a result, you are likely to see these teams show an extra effort at home as to show the nation how strong the support at home is for them. Wanting to prove they should be in the top 25, you will see very strong showings from these non ranked teams especially at home in front of the home fans.

The second part of the classic system, which is used far less, is to wager against the unranked team in their next game after playing a ranked team. We have found that after showing an amazing effort and winning the game outright against a ranked team, the unranked team tends to be a bust in their next game. The common factor for the letdown game, is that the unranked team is not as motivated in their next game, if they play another unranked team. Over the last three years, betting on the unranked team to letdown in a game following the ranked school victory, has produced a winning record.
