As if the fall sports betting season hasn’t been exciting enough in regards to the UFC and the main event matches that it has put forward, now UFC 139: Shogun vs. Henderson is right around the corner and offering even more intrigue to the MMA world. The first event to ever be hosted by the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, the UFC will be invading Strikeforce territory in style with a strong card that will feature another highly anticipated main event.
While Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles are destined to put on a pay head show at the bantamweight level, and Wanderlei Silva will be eager to prove there is still some gas left in the tank when he takes on Cung Le, no match will be as big as the main event, which will feature a couple of former champions. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua needed two chances to steal the UFC Light Heavyweight belt from Lyota Machida, but after losing to Jon Jones in his first title defense, UFC President Dana White has opted to go a different path this time around. Enter Dan Henderson, the 41-year old former Strikeforce champion that should have the support of the home crowd on his side. Henderson had competed at both the middleweight and light heavyweight levels in Strikeforce, and after registering three straight wins in the latter division will make his return to the UFC looking to steal the headlines under the bright lights of the main event.
