MLB Betting – Winning In Baseball Is More About How Teams Perform With Pitcher On Mound Than Pitcher

The biggest misconception among those that wager on MLB betting games is that the biggest statistic in getting it right in the pitching matchup is simply the ERA or even the pitchers records. While it is obviously something that cannot be overlooked, picking a team based on a pitcher’s ERA of even their record can make for a headache, especially if team’s don’t get enough run support in to give their man the decision, which is something that happens fairly often. A more appropriate statistic to look at is the team’s win-loss record when a particular pitcher plays, which illustrates the team’s winning percentage in games that he has started.

For example, when Seattle Mariners’ ace Felix Hernandez won the Cy Young award last season, there was talk about whether he had won enough games to deserve the trophy. Hernandez ended up winning the award because his ERA was so incredible and he had more sports betting wins than losses and an outstanding number of strikeouts. The problem with wagering on games that Hernandez played in was that although he was incredible, the team in front of him didn’t produce enough runs for those that played to consistently get enough wins. The lesson is simple, when wagering on baseball make sure that you look at the team’s record when a specific player is on the mound and not just his personal statistics (It's no Bet Online scam).
